Proofreading
Comb through your completed manuscript for any and all errors. We’ll undertake a detailed, comprehensive search for anything in the book that would distract readers from the core insight.
If you're completely satisfied with your manuscript, but want it to go through a final pass or two before production, you'll want proofreading.
At Ether Press, proofreading is used generally, covering both what is traditionally known as copyediting and proofreading. This means thoroughly checking for typographical, grammatical, formatting, and syntactical errors, verifying sources and cleaning up citation information, and ensuring that your stylistic choices are consistent throughout the book.
You can choose to go through one pass before your manuscript goes through production (pre-production proofreading), one pass after typesetting and layout (post-production proofreading), or both.
If you opt for pre-production only, the book will be proofread before typesetting and layout, right after the writing and editing stages and before PDF conversion. If you opt for post-production only, the book will get a full proofread after conversion into a PDF.
If you opt for both, the book will receive two proofreads, one before and one after file conversion. These will be done by different proofreaders.
Once your book is proofread, we can complete the process with production.
